SHORT FILM IDEAS
(Hover Here)
This consists of a collection of short film ideas I have accumulated. Although most of it is not thoroughly developed, I hope this small section can help show my interest in this field.

Idea #1 - I See Fire by Ed Sheeran

This short film idea is inspired by the song 'I See Fire' by Ed Sheeran. I had the idea of a dragon terrorizing a village from watching 'The Hobbit'.

The storyline of this film is about a boy who lost his family in a fire (due to the dragon). Among the burnt remains of the village, he finds another young girl who survived. Together, they made a new life for themselves and grew up.

After a while of living in solitude, the girl notices traders or smoke from afar, signs of another village a few days' of travel away. The girl tries to persuade the boy to explore the village, the boy reluctantly agrees.

At the village, the boy immediately has flashbacks from his younger years, envisioning the village up in flames. He tries to warn the villagers and the girl, but it is to no avail. A horn blast, warning of an incoming siege and chaos follows. Soldiers march through the village, followed by a dragon. It was only then the boy realised that the dragon was beaten and under the torturous control of the soldiers to light up the village on fire. He and the girl tried to free the dragon and fought the soldiers.

The short film ends in a few possible ways. Either a cliffhanger where the girl and boy are separated by fire or a scene of the king watching and scheming from afar.

Idea #2 - 'Colour'

This short film idea is given by a friend of mine. It is based on the idea where a child cannot follow his/her dreams because of social pressures and expectations.

The story takes place in a monochromatic futuristic city, where robots roam around in a given lighted 'path'. The protagonist is a young curious robot. The robot had noticed a bright light coming out of a dark alley and wanted to explore. However, the pathway leading to the bright light was dimmed, thus, the young robot has no choice but to move on.

As months and years past, the protagonist grows and still passes by the dark alley often. While the protagonist eventually gives up hope on exploring it, a sudden beeping noise catches its attention one day.

Through sheer force and determination, the robot manages to yank itself out of the lighted path and slowly crawls into the dark alley.

It gradually weakens as it approaches the bright room. In the room, there is a floating colourful cube or sphere. As soon as the robot touches the floating object, there is a burst of colour. Waves of colour spread from the room to the entire city, dissolving the pathways into dust as well. Everyone rejoices and celebrates, but the protagonist is nowhere to be seen.

The ending scene shows the protagonist motionless in the same room, its eyes closing. A black screen shows up, with the words 'Restarting...'.

The lighted pathways were meant to represent the path society wants us to take, while the dimmed ones were the pathways looked down upon.

The above two short film ideas are still being developed. I plan to continue this project after learning how to animate.
